siko,

Please try SMTP Diagnostic Tool
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=bc1881c7-925d-4a29-bd42-71e8563c80a9&displaylang=en

Also here are few KB articles on how to test SMTP server using telnet:

How To Test SMTP Services Manually in Windows Server 2003

HOW TO: Test Windows 2000 IIS SMTP Services Manually
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;286421

Once you identify an SMTP server that passes the test, set it for the application (Admin > Settings > Site Settings tab > SMTP Server).

It sounds like the test application sends emails without any problems. This is strange because it is using the same code as ReportPortal application. Perhaps the problem is related to the settings or security of ReportPortal virtual directory. Does the problem do away if you give your IIS Anonymous user administrator access?

Please send screenshot and detailed description of the problem to support@ReportPortal.com.

siko,

When using the test application, do you see any files in C:\Inetpub\mailroot\Pickup folder after you perform step c?

There is no issue of the version, default website is running the same 1.1 version

Please someone guide me regarding this issue

I had similar issues with mail..and the solution was to make sure the default website was running the same version of ASP as the ReportPortal site..which i belive was 1.1.

Have you tried to set the SMTP Server? (Admin > Settings> Site Settings> SMTP Server)? If this does not help please try this test application on your server:

http://www.reportportal.com/download/TestEmail.zip

Follow these steps:

a) On the web server, Stop “Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP)” service
b) Open C:\Inetpub\mailroot\Pickup folder
c) Send Email via the test application.
d) Start the service...
