Hi i am running reportportal on an sql2k/iss w2k3 box all on one server, i have upgraded to sql2k5. what i would like to do is keep my original install on the w2k3 iis box and piont the instance of report port to the sql2k5 analysis server in stead of the sql2k server.
how do i do that with out doing a complete uninstall and reinstall of report portal..
This can be done very easy withing ReportPortal as admin. You can add connections to any other SQL database or OLAP database on or outside of the server based on SQL Server Analysis Services 2000, 2005 or 2008.
In ReportPortal > Admin > Connections > Here you will see the default ReportPortal SQL and XMLA Connection. You can add here any other connection to a SQL or XMLA Database by adding the connecion string.
I am new to RP, and I have the exact situation. I need to re-confgure an existing report portal ver 1.8 which is currently pointing to a SQL 2000, to SQL 2005.
I followed your instruction but which one do I need to choose, XMLA or SQL. I have installed a newer version of RP on the SQL 2005 box.Can you advise please?
