The IPL governing body developed prevention measures to combat such problems as part of sustaining competitive fairness in the Cricket matches.
Team official Gurunath Meiyappan was arrested in 2013 for betting along with transmitting team information to betting intermediaries, which led to a one-year suspension for Chennai Super Kings (CSK). The CSK team received a one-year suspension in the IPL, match fixing team in ipl although its franchise stayed unaffected by match-fixing activities. ​
