Posted - 01/21/2011 : 08:47:00 Hello,
Having installed RP & xmla 1.1 I configured xmla using the webpage "http://bloggingabout.net/blogs/mglaser/archive/2008/08/15/configuring-http-access-to-sql-server-2008-analysis-services-on-microsoft-windows-server-2008.aspx".
Then set the xmla.udl file's properties, connection tab to be Data Source=localhost, Use WinNT integrated security, and it saw the SSAS cubes in 'initial catalog'.
This threw an error in Test Connection of :
"Test connection failed because of an error in setting the window handle property. Multiple-step OLE DB operation generated errors. Check each OLE DB status value, if available. No work was done."
And then "Test connection succeeded but some settings were not accepted by the provider". Provider is MS OLE DB Provider for Analysis Services 10.0.
Navigating to http://localhost/ReportPortal/login.aspx throws this error page :
"Either the user, IIS APPPOOL\ReportPortal, does not have permission to access the referenced mining model, Connection, or the object does not exist."
What should I look at next? Thank you.
Regards

Posted - 01/24/2011 : 03:04:13 I resolved the issue by reinstalling and specifying 'SQL Server 2008' in the database option, where before the option used was 'None specified'.
Thank you Marco. |

Posted - 01/21/2011 : 14:21:52 Hi,
xmla 1.1 is used for SQL Server 2000 Analysis Services.
For 2005, 2008 and 2008R2 32 or 64 you can/should use their own XMLA as installed during the setup with ReportPortal or by yourself based on: "http://bloggingabout.net/blogs/mglaser/archive/2008/08/15/configuring-http-access-to-sql-server-2008-analysis-services-on-microsoft-windows-server-2008.aspx"
Than it should be working.
For icCube you can use their own XMLA
