Posted - 02/27/2008 : 00:45:37 Hi...
I have an older vesion of RP installed, version 1.8 with SQL 2000. I have installed a newer version of RP which is 2.2 build 148 on a SQL 2005 box.
How do I get all the reports that I have created on my previous RP version to the new one? I have around 100 over reports which is ridiculous for me to re-write them back again.
Any help would be much appreciated!

Posted - 02/27/2008 : 15:06:12 You can try but I using ssas2005 and not ssas2000 anymore means that you have to use another connectionstring and so I think it is more easy to develop a new report based on the old layout than do an import of export.
You can add in the new ReportPortal both the new and old reports based on the new SSAS2005 and the old SSAS2000 connection string.
In that way you can use the old reports till you have the new reports available and switch over.
You can use also the KPI 2005 Reports and KPI 2005 Measures as there is in SSAS2005 and not in SSAS2000.

Posted - 02/27/2008 : 14:53:04 Hi Marco..
I am using the new SSAS2005 cubes..which I believe is the same cubes that we had in SSAS2000. If that the case I think I could do an import export.
Thanks Bob |

Posted - 02/27/2008 : 13:40:18 Hi,
I am not sure if you are using now SSAS2000 Cubes and want to use the new SSAS2005 Cubes ?
If so the structure of SSAS is different and so the used measures and dimensions are different and so anyway you have to make new reports.
If you are only updating the ReportPortal repository from SSDS2000 to SSDS2005 and still use the SSAS2000 Cubes than you can do export/import or convert existing reports.

Posted - 02/27/2008 : 12:33:29 Hi Marco.
Thanks for your reply. The connection will be pointing to my new SSAS. This requires me to change the connection string for each of my report am I right?
So you are suggesting that I copy my existing Report Portal DB and attaching it to the new SSAS then re-install the latest RP? If I do this, would I still need to make changes to the connection string for my reports?
Thanks Bob |

Posted - 02/27/2008 : 01:24:59 Hi,
You can export the report from RP 1.8 and import in RP 2.2 (but is the SSAS connection the same or should this be your new SSAS ?)
Before installing ReportPortal 2.2 you can add the ReportPortal SQL Database Repository in SQL Server 2005 and during installation you can add here to use the existing Report Repository. The Repository is updated with the new features and your reports are still there.
Best regards, Marco
