Hello -
I have SS2005 SP2 installed on Windows Server 2003 SP1. I tried to install the reportPortal using ReportPortalSetup.msi, it went through several screens asking about the xmlsa and ReportPortal and then at the last step where it copies files and tried to create Folders and such, ReportPortalSetup.msi gives an error saying
" Could not connect ot he databse. Make Sure SQL server is in mixed security mode. Please correct the information and try again."

I double checked and my Named SQL Server Instance is ss2005_1 and is in both Windows and SQL server mode. ALso, in IIS6.0, the ReportPortalSetup.msi created XMLA and ReportPortal applications.

Using SS Management Studio, there are NO databases related ReportPortal.

I need to know what is the best way to removing the IIS ReportPortal applications (is just delete sufficient), and what are the ramiciations of the Windows 2003 registry.

Appreciate your help in advance.

Hi,

With SQL Server 2005 the name of the server is important. Before with SQL Server 2000 you could use even . for local.

The best way is first start Management Studio and copy the full SQL Server 2005 Name and use this during the ReportPortal Installation.

I see you have done so far. with MYSERVER/SQL2005 as sample.

Hello -
I will reply to my own topic I that I had created today.

During the installation screens related to XMLA and ReportPortal, I had to fully qualify the instance name as (local)\ss2005_1 instead of just (local), then installation worked. Before that I manually deleted the IIS xmla and ReportPortal applications. So, I had no issues now.

I had to qualify my named instances since my default SQL Server is 2000 and not 2005.

Also when using "Application Setup" from the 'Report Portal' Program Group , I had to specify for Analysis Services Server Name: localhost\ss2005_1.
