On January 23, Microsoft announced that it will discontinue offering standalone versions of PerformancePoint Server, its integrated performance management product. As part of that announcement Microsoft announced it will also stop selling the Proclarity Pro product which will have no future versions. When that occurs, there will no longer a dedicated Business Intelligence product; instead, Microsoft will simply offer BI as a set of services among others in Microsoft Office and SharePoint. With Microsoft’s shift to providing BI within Office and SharePoint, users will be able to accomplish only a limited range of analysis.
