Is there some method to "grant" design rights of a report to another user?
I understand an Admin can edit reports prepared by others, but we sometimes want "designers" to be able to edit reports prepared by other users.
I want to limit the numnber of Admin's in the application.

Hi,
So you mean you have viewers, superusers and admins with following rights:
Viewers: Only view and save own reports SuperUsers: View and save own reports and make new and change reports and change privat reports from other users Admins: All rights to do all
If you want other rigths, please add/change the list.

Thanks for the reply.
We have viewers, Designers and Admins. Do you consider designers "superusers"?
I am not sure about your use of "private reports".
For example: User A with designer rights builds report "Rpt01" and saves the report in folder "Folder01". User B with designer rights needs to modify "Rpt01". When User B opens folder "Folder01" in design mode, "Rpt01" is not visible. In design mode, "Rpt01" is only visable to Admins.

Hi,
Maybe you have already tested this but do user A and B have the same security rights ?
I think if you have the same security than you should see and be able to update reports both in view and in design mode without being admin.

Thanks for the reply.
We checked and that is not the case. Only if the individual is Admin can they see all reports in design mode. I should note we are focusing on SQL reports at this time.

If the problem is User B with designer rights needs to modify "Rpt01". When User B opens folder "Folder01" in design mode, "Rpt01" is not visible.
You should be able to right click on the Folder01 and give User B read or write access.

If possible, I would like to re-open this question. We find that the condition where other "writers" can not see reports for design and change (that they did not create) is occurring at this time with SQL reports. This condition does not seem to occur for OLAP reports.

Ron,
Would it be possible for you to send the zipped backup of the ReportPortal database to support@ReportPortal.com? |
