Hi,
I am new to ReportPortal. I have installed the reportportal in my machine and create xmla connection sucessfully. When I create a cache, the application reterive all the SSAS cube information from my server. But, when I Open the OLAP report, the screen shows the link "Connect to cube/ Open Report" and "loading..." status message in middle of the page. I try to click on the "Connect to Cube" link, but nothing happened from there. This is very critical. Please help me to resolve this.
Thanks! Madhan |

Hi,
Which SSAS (SSAS2000, SSAS2005 or SSAS2008) are you using ?
In ReportPortal you can test the XMLA connection. Is this working without errors ?
If so you can make an OLAP report based on the XMLA connection.
After that you can cache the SSAS Cube information as part of the connection and choice which lanquaqe your would like to see.

Hi Marco,
Thanks for your quick reply.
I am using SSAS 2005. while installing report portal, suddenly a window appeared in the middle and when I click "OK", it show a bunch of errors. I have tried different options nad nothing worked out. So, I changed the servername it the url(http:///xmla/msmdpump.dll) as "localhost" (http://localhost/xmla/msmdpump.dll) and clicked ok button and a message "success" is displayed. Is that correct?
Thanks! Madhan |

Hi,
Did you test the XMLA connection ?
in ReportPortal > Admin > Connection to see if XMLA is working ok in ReportPortal ?
In IIS Admin is XMLA with Net 2.0 and in XP with Integrated or Basic or anonymous access rights ?
If the connection test in ReportPortal Admin Connections is ok than you should see OLAP Cubes. Maybe a strange question but do you have OLAP cubes on the server where XMLA is setup with the right users to have access ?
Try in any way to use Foodmart or AdventureWorks as sample to test first before goning on your own Cubes.
If there are some questions, please let me know. I have it working in Windows XP SP2, Windows 2003 Server, Windows Vista with SSAS2000, SSAS2005 and SSAS2008.

Yes Marco,
actually that is our problem. We have done all thing, even the XMLA connection. It's working. .Net Framework registration OK, testing the IIS using aspx code is also OK. Seem everything is okay except this one. Now i'm trying to download the new Build of Report Portal to see if this problem occur in the new Build also. FYI, i'm using Windows Server 2003 Enterprise Edition with SP1, SQL Server 2005, SSAS 2005. Has Madhankumars solved the problem? Can you please share the solution? Thank you. |

Oh btw, the OLAP CUBE is also in the same server with XMLA. I can use the OLAP CUBE by connecting using MS Excel Pivot Table from any computer to the server. |

Hi Andre & Marco,
It works. I uninstall the Report Portal, XMLA SDK, and remove the virtual directory from Default Website on IIS. Then i re-install the XMLA and Report Portal using build 161. Now the problem solved.
From my opinion, this issue might be caused by the installation of SP1, since i was using the earlier build number before.
Maybe this can also solve Madhankumars' problem.
Thank you. |
