We are experiencing a very serious error when attempting to connect to a cube via "Design" >> "Olap Report". When clicking "Connect to Cube" an error pops up: ---Error: Internal Error: An unexpected error occurred (file ", line, function").--- This, however, occurs only on particular end-user p.c.'s.
We have 3 ReportPortal servers. Servers 1 and 2 are running SQL Server 2005 sp2, Windows Server 2003, Internet Explorer 6, and ReportPortal Build 135. Server 3 is running SQL Server 2005 sp1, Windows Server 2003, Internet Explorer 6, and ReportPortal Build 135.
This error is only occuring on Server 2 and only on particular end-user pc's. The end-user pc, which experiences this error connecting to ReportPortal on Server 2 can successfully connect to Server 1 or 3. Also, other end-user pc's can connect to a cube through Server 2 successfully.
Most notably, I installed Netscape 8.1. The end user can successfully connect to a cube in ReportPortal on Netscape, but gets the error in Internet Explorer. Both browsers are running simultaneously. We only support Internet Explorer on our end user pc's.

It looks like your ReportPortal virtual directory is using Windows Integrated Authentication. XMLA web service is unable to handle a Windows Authentication. After being authenticated by Windows, your browser challenges XMLA service and the service breaks. Please use basic authentication instead for pass-through authentication.
This problem is somewhat similar to Reporting Services problem described in the FAQ page:

As random as this error seems to be, we have gotten some consistency on a particular end user pc. The pc is a Windows Server 2000, with internet explorer 6.
We are using passthrough authentication in ReportPortal. When navigating to "http://<server>/reportportal", a redirect to design/view.aspx occurs. From this point, clicking "Design" >> "Olap Report", and "Connect to Cube" causes the error. I was able to reproduce the error in Netscape 8.1 using that technique.
In a new instance of the browser; navigating to "http://<server>/reportportal/design/view.aspx" eliminates the error. The direct navigation seems to be the key in our situation.
This error is isolated to a few pc's. It has occurred on Windows Server 2000, and Windows XP Professional. It has also occurred on internet explorer 6, 7 and Netscape 8.1.
The error only occurs following the procedure described above on certain pc's. |
